Corruption is the biggest enemy of our people: Lekota

SABC, Johannesburg, 14 October 2015

The Congress of the People President Mosiuoa Lekota and some of his
supporters have joined the National Union of metalworkers of South Africa
(NUMSA) anti-corruption and job losses strike on Wednesday.

When asked why he was at a NUMSA march, Lekota said: "This is not a NUMSA
march but an anti-corruption march. The biggest enemy of our people today
especially poor people is corruption."

Lekota and NUMSA leader Irvin Jim both spoke to the SABC about the march.

Vavi: Nothing new came from ANC NGC

Getrude Makhafola, IOL, Johannesburg, 14 October 2015

The African National Congress' National General Council (NGC) did not come
up with anything new to better the lives of South Africans, former COSATU
general secretary Zwelinzima Vavi said on Wednesday.

"Nothing new came out of that NGC . everything they came up with was said
over and over again before," Vavi said to a loud applause from
anti-corruption marchers.

At least 3 000 people gathered in Newtown for NUMSA's anti-corruption march.

The gathering saw political parties such as Cope, Workers Socialist Party
(WASP), lobby group Right2Know, NGOs and civil organisations descend onto
Mary Fitzgerald Square after 9am.

Many of them arrived at the square in buses and taxis.

The marchers will deliver memorandums at the Chamber of Mines, the Gauteng
legislature and the Johannesburg Stock Exchange.

Vavi said there was a link between corruption and the state of the country's
economy.
