Comrade Stalin,

The protocol in the Alliance is that we must call each other and make each
other aware about the statements that we issue about one another especially on
allegations. Secondly, before we respond to what is reported in the media we
first contact each other – and often clarity is given and the responses are
nuanced differently. The SACP and ANC media departments have managed this very
well. However, very recently we have been observing negatively charged
statements which amount to attacks on the SACP and its leaders, especially, if
we are to be open, from the ANCYL. Please note that you have not seen any
statement from the SACP dedicated at responding to these new trend. This is not
permanent, however.

But we (including you) need to notice the change of tone in the ANCYL
statements with words such as “we request”. This shows that there are
engagements and there is an attempt to comply. I’m saying this of course not
wishing away the undertones and what the journalists who contact us for
enquiries say they are being told. Sometimes we are unfortunately compelled to
respond to such things but we resist to issue statements.

Let us be frank comrades, and honest as well. There are people and
organisations who have raised their with for the next president to be a woman.
Some of them even went to say, on all our behalf, that we were ready. I’m not
talking about the pre-Polokwane period. I’m talking about the post-Mangaung
period. As a matter of fact, there is a resolution that has publicly been
canvased in this regard. When it marched to the Union Buildings one of the
things the ANCWL said “in defence” of the President is that there were people
undermining him for “his view” on the next president being a woman. The
activity was by the way also used to further that view as the view of the
ANCWL.

If you are to unite the movement, you must be consistent. That’s the point.
Immediately you become selective you will be veering towards factionalism and
not acting factionally yourself.

There are just certain pronouncements that are made from within our movement
that are just divisive. The last time there are people who organised a march to
a house of our leader was when the DA organised people to Nkandla. What did we
do? We closed ranks and mobilised as the whole alliance and went there to
defend. Who had known that there will be inconsistency, calling for a march to
a house of a member of the ANC NEC and NWC who is the General Secretary of the
SACP.

In continued inconsistent leadership entrenches in our movement it will be very
difficult to achieve unity. We must all recognise that we need each other.

We need bold leadership that calls order. There are just so many wrong things
that have been done in the name of the President Comrade Jacob Zuma for
instance. We all came out in defence, against name dropping. And this things,
or at least some of them, did not stop up to this day. This is one of the
things that still needs to be dealt with. If consistency is to apply, the ANCYL
statement should be regarded as the authority in how to deal with this matter?

This is plain unfortunate events and do not warrant the importance and primacy
we place on them. What happened to internal engagements? After all, HQ of all
these organisations are in Johannesburg and they all have contacts of each
other and can fly to meet and engage.

Who benefits from these contact media attacks to and from except the
revolutionary alliance that looks public credibility

This is very important issues to note Comrade Josopu, maybe I must refrain from
the point you are noting. But in as much as I do that, it remains clear that we

espoused to the Premier League.

Maybe I must vehemently condemn the souring of the division which is appearing
in majority led by Members of the National Executive Committee of the ANCYL
including a public announcements that we get from the communication officer of
the Youth League. It shall be noted that we are bona fide members of the ANCYL
and we must not be pushed or forced to accept unruliness and disrespect to

This is a very, very unfortunate statement from the ANCYL, they must also take
their own advice by engaging alliance partners if they really care about this
movement, because the only thing we have witnessed from them since day 1 is to
ATTACK and to DEFEND, this statement is not assisting anything.

I condemn the unti-unity activities but some reprimands are purely
opportunistic and slanderous to say the least. The Youth League to reprimand
the Premier of KZN to stop people marching against the organisation it amount
to a personal attack to the Premier of the Province.

The fact that people are marching against the organisational processes it does
not make an individual to take a responsibility for the actions he is not
physically taking part of. Not so long we have learned about the Premier League
just in the eve of the ANCYL National Congress and the so called Premier League
is said to be behind President Zuma.

We have not heard a call by the Youth League that is said to be the product of
the same Premier League asking the President of the Country cautioning people
not to use his name to sour division in the organisation. This is a pure
absurdity by the Youth League to elevate their faction by condemning the other.

It must be put categorical clear that factionalism is a foreign tendency within
the ANC and the call to fight against it shall not be opportunistically usede
to advantage one faction against the other.

ANCYL Statement, 17 November 2015

Protests in KZN

Uvuk'ayibambe is concerned with the state of affairs of the ANC particularly
after Conferences of the ANCYL in different levels. The ANCYL calls on all
members of the ANCYL to disassociate themselves from the continuous mass
demonstration directed towards the ANC Offices. The ANCYL calls on all
discipline members of the league to stop participating in activities that seek
to damage the name of the ANC and to stop singing divisive songs.

We call on the former ANC KZN Chairperson and current Premier of KwaZulu Natal
Comrade Senzo Mchunu to come out and condemn those that are marching in his
name.

We call on him to take proactive measures in ensuring that he discourages all
those that are engaged in mass protest using his name.

For if he does not do this it might create or affirm the impression that they
do this sent and instructed by him.

We want to encourage all those that are dissatisfied about the outcome of the
KZN ANC Conference to continue to write letters to relevant structures and
await the response. The mass demonstration does not in any way affect or
influence the outcomes of appeals in the movement the only thing that affect
and influence outcomes is the content of the appeal. After the ANC as
organization will leave beyond those that are leaders. We say this for we will
inherit the ANC and we do not want to inherit an organization that is amassed
with problems beyond reproach.

We call on all members of the movement to desist from the discussion of
leadership at national level for this matter is closed. We call on those that
have concern about the ANC 2017 Conference to raise these matters in structures
of the organisation.

We want to encourage all alliance partners to raise concerns inside structures
of the alliance and refrain from passing comments that might create space for
public spat amongst leaders and structures of the movement for that will be
playing into the hands of the enemy.

We equally note the attacks that the ANC has suffered from one of its alliance
partner over the weekend when the SACP had its Provincial General Council. We
request that we desist from saying bad things about it each other in our
meetings and platform for that might create animosity amongst alliance
component.

We want to say to the SACP and YCLSA the doors for engagement are opened for
any matters. We call on them to stop saying that they are tired of defending
the President of the ANC on Nkandla and on the 4 billion jet which has not been
bought by the state. We the ANCYL are capable of defending our own leadership.
We have never outsourced that responsibility and we will never do so. We are
combat ready to defend our leadership at night and during the day. We have
never invited anyone to defend the leadership of the ANC. We have always
understood this to be a responsibility of those that find a need to do so those
that are tired can they step aside we will continue with the journey, tinder
ledlela esihambayo.

We request that the leadership of the SACP stops saying the President of the
ANC is this "men". We as the youth of the ANC do not take kind to such remarks.
We call on the YCL leadership to stop saying the Chairperson of the Premier
League stays in Nkandla for the insulation of such remarks will not allow us to
keep quite. We call on the ANC to suspend all those that want to open the
leadership question in line with the ANC resolution particularly those that are
part of the ANC NEC.
