Media statement, 3 December 2015

DENOSA welcomes the judgment by the Supreme Court of Appeal in the

Oscar Pistorius case

As a nurses' organisation, whose majority members are women, we warmly
welcome the judgement by the Supreme Court of Appeal (SCA) in finding Oscar
Pistorius guilty of murder.

This judgment sends a strong message to all perpetrators, including those
who may be still at large, that any wrongful act will be caught by the long
arm of the law. Furthermore, we believe the judgement will redeem the trust
of citizens in the country's justice system.

We are particularly happy that this judgement is handed down during the 16
Days of Activism for No Violence on Women and Children Campaign.

Issued by the Democratic Nursing Organisation of South Africa (DENOSA)
