SACE.jpg South African Council for Educators, 22 December 2015 Declaration: "Selling of Posts" The South African Council for Educators (SACE) conducted intensive investigations re: "Selling of Posts" in 2014 after a request from SADTU, following media reports. The Council's Team followed up 29 leads in four Provinces: North West, Mpumalanga, Eastern Cape and KwaZulu-Natal. By Sept 2015, the probe was unable to secure any evidence or witness to substantiate any allegation against any teacher. It did, however, encounter rumours of all kinds. Recently, two leads have availed themselves. SACE is investigating these, and will prepare for prosecution early in the New Year. To date, there is no official SACE report on this matter, other than an internal investigation report. SADTU has NOT, at any point, interfered with this process, let alone covered up any SACE report. On the contrary, SADTU co-operated with the investigation at all times. SACE hereby distances itself from any insinuation that it produced a report that "implicates the entire Union, as opposed to individual members in the buying and selling of jobs." SACE intends seeking relief on this matter. The Council always endeavours to thoroughly investigate all allegations against teachers with a view to prosecutions, without fear or favour.
