Sole Witness to Deadly Israeli Settler Arson Attack Has Own Home Burned Out

The only court witness to last year's deadly firebombing of a Palestinian
family had his own home burned early yesterday - with the same Israeli
groups under suspicion.

In a repeat of the attack by young Israeli settlers, unidentified assailants
threw petrol bombs into Ibrahim Dawabsheh's home at about 2am.

He and his wife were being treated for the effects of smoke inhalation at
Rafidiya hospital in Nablus after their lucky escape.

"The way they attacked, the type of fire bombs and the timing of the attack
all indicate that it was Israeli settlers," said Palestinian official
Ghassan Daghlas.

The settler activity-monitor said the attack bore hallmarks of Israeli
extremists from illegal West Bank settlements.

Clashes between hundreds of school children and Israeli occupation troops
broke out following the attack.

At least 15 girls suffered tear gas inhalation and one Israeli soldier was
taken away by ambulance after a thrown stone hit him in the face.

Israeli police spokeswoman Luba al-Samri said occupation forces were
investigating the incident, adding that "the motives behind the attack are
not clear yet."

Mr Dawabsheh was the only witness to the horrific attack on his relatives
and next-door neighbours in Duma, near Nablus, on July 31 last year.

Baby of 18 months Ali Dawabsheh was burned alive in his bed when attackers
threw petrol bombs through his bedroom window.

His four-year-old brother Ahmed, father Saad and mother Riham were severely
burned in the attack. Both parents later died of their injuries while Ahmed
is still recovering.

Amiram ben Uliel, a 21-year-old West Bank settler, has since been charged
with murder.

He and other alleged accomplices are part of the "hilltop youth" gangs who
set up outposts on West Bank hilltops.

They have carried out numerous so-called "price tag" attacks against
Palestinian civilians, Christian churches, Israeli peace campaigns and even
the military over any steps to limit settlement expansion.
