IOL latest.png SA doesn’t need a coup, says COSATU Zintle Mahlati, IOL, Johannesburg, 25 April 2016 COSATU president S’dumo Dlamini has labelled Julius Malema’s statements that they were prepared “to remove government through the barrel of a gun”, as irresponsible and outrageous. He was responding to comments made by the EFF leader during an interview with international televisions channel, Al Jazeera. “We heard what Julius is saying about them taking arms and taking over this country by force. It is quiet a bold statement and outrageous and irresponsible,” said Dlamini. “We are not sure if the EFF has an army in South Africa, which can take up and take over power through arms.” Dlamini addressed this and other issues pertaining the federation’s May Day celebration plans at a briefing on Monday, in Johannesburg. He said South African does not want or need a “coup d’état” of any form, as there were election processes in place. “It’s election time and there are democratic processes and people should follow democratic processes if they want to lead us. We don’t want coups, I don’t think South Africa needs a coup d’état of any form, even by arms if suggested,” explained Dlamini. The ANC and DA have rejected Malema’s statements and could possibly institute a legal challenge against him.
