Janusz Walus' application to be released on parole dismissed with costs

The North Gauteng High Court today delivered judgement dismissing Janusz
Walus' application to be released from prison based on "exceptional
circumstances" without appeal processes against his parole first exhausted.
Walus claimed that he would suffer irreparable harm if he was not released.‎
The SACP opposed Walus' application‎ and exposed the disguises in which it
was dressed as well as the pretensions that he has been making, all a ploy
simply to be released from prison and nothing else.

The SACP will continue to‎ seek full disclosure of the truth and complete
justice on the murder of Comrade Chris Hani, our General Secretary, a member
of the ANC national executive committee and former Chief of Staff of uMkhoto
we Sizwe. This requires all legal avenues to be exhausted, especially if
there are grounds for successful appeals.

Further, the Central Committee will next month also discuss the call
previously made by the Party to reopen investigations into the murder of
Hani through an official inquest.‎ The decision to be taken will be
announced publicly at the end of the meeting.

The murder of Hani pushed our country to brink of civil war. The murder was
calculated to plunge our country into full-blown ‎civil war, and could not
have been the product of two individuals only, Walus and his accomplice
Clive Derby-Lewis.

The continued refusal by the unrepentant, unrehabilitated and unremorseful
convicted murderers‎ to make full disclosure of the truth is tantamount to
defeating the ends of justice. As a result, justice cannot serve its full
course in relation to the monumental possibility of the existence of people
who sanctioned the assassination and/or other people who were directly or
indirectly involved in its planning or execution, or who had prior knowledge
of it.‎
