Pearson Media Swarm

A campaigning e-mail storm, starting 10h00 (GMT) tomorrow morning

SADTU supports the campaign to get a resolution passed at the AGM of the
giant Pearson education monopoly, which is busy privatising education in our
South Africa and in countries around the world, to the detriment of our
children. The resolution, if passed, will alter the way this predator is
able to do business.

Mugwena Maluleke is SADTU's General Secretary and also Vice President for
Africa of the Education International (EI), which fully supports the
campaign. Cde Maluleke is presently in London to attend the Pearson AGM at
12 noon (GMT) tomorrow.

Many trade unions and other organisations all over the world support this
campaign. One of them that is particularly active is the American Federation
of Teachers (AFT).

The AFT has today sent out a message asking friends and affiliates to help
with "one last push to get the message across to Pearson's Board of
Directors." The AFT has supplied a list that includes 8 out of the ten
Pearson directors' e-mail addresses.

Please e-mail these ladies and gentlemen tomorrow morning, to tell them of
your support for the Shareholders' Resolution calling for a new direction in
their business strategy for education. Say that you support the message of
the shareholders <http://pearson.aft.org/resolution> ' resolution and
petition <http://www.tellpearson.org/> . Say you support SADTU and the
Education International.
