Press Statement: GAUTENG ANC-LED ALLIANCE TO HOST A SEMINAR WITH THE VICE PRESIDENT OF THE BOLIVARIAN REPUBLIC OF VENEZUELA, COMRADE ARISTOBULO ISTURIZ The ANC-led alliance in the province of Gauteng will host an international seminar in demonstration of its internationalism and solidarity with people of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. The seminar will be addressed by COMRADE ARISTOBULO ISTURIZ. Comrade ARISTOBULO ISTURIZ is the current Vice President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, a former trade unionist who led the Venezuela teachers association. He served as Minister of Education under President Hugo Chavez. He also taught at the University of Venezuela and previously elected the Mayor of the Libertador Municipality of Caracas in 1992. Imperialism has refocused its aggression on Venezuela and the broader Latin American region. It is using counter-revolutionary psychological operations to create the current crisis mainly by economic sabotage. A belligerent opposition, taking advantage of the situation, has unleashed paramilitary death squads and Guarimbas which are stoking chaos. The unjustifiable US President executive order branding Venezuela an “unusual and extraordinary threat to US national security”, has been a major catalyst for the bold campaign of criminal counter-revolutionaries in Venezuela. We invite all our members, workers and the media to the seminar, to further our analysis and for coverage of the discussion. The details are as follows: Date: Monday, 9 May 2016 Venue: City of Johannesburg, Council Chambers Time: 17h00 Speakers will also include SACP Central Committee member and alliance leaders.
