SANCO big no words.png SANCO, Pretoria, Gauteng, 22 June 2016 Statement on the Unrest in Tshwane and Mayoral Candidate SANCO in the Greater Tshwane region has noted with discontent the events that have taken place in the City of Tshwane over the past 3 days. It is disheartening to see that the processes of the ANC have been reduced to elements of criminality and opportunistic behaviour by those who have taken up criminal activities with the facade of ANC protest. On Sunday, the NEC, PEC and the REC of the ANC convened the branch leadership across Tshwane and in the Scuffle, one person lost their live and scores more were injured in the same of the ANC. SANCO would like to firstly wish the family of the departed the warmest condolences for their loss. A loss in a protest is a loss for all. Secondly, SANCO would like to condemn the violence that took place at the Tshwane Events centre and could encourage the SAPS to work tirelessly to bring these murderers to book. >From Monday, there has been a faction of the outgoing mayor, comrade Kgosientsho Ramokgopa who have been protesting the ANC NEC's decision not to have him back for a second term. These protests have turned into looting joy runs from opportunistic members of society who continue to terrorise communities. Over R40million in damages has been done as a result. As the Civic organisation, we harshly condemn these acts of hooliganism and vigilantism. Vandals have no space in the African National Congress. The processes of the ANC have subjected us all to the compromise that we see today. On the Mayoral Candidate SANCO would like to endorse the nomination of Comrade Thoko Didiza as mayoral candidate in the City of Tshwane. She comes with a wealth of experience to lead us into greater heights as a Metropolitan City. The ANC is not short of candidates that it can deploy, and with comrade Thoko the same vain is seen. The false propaganda that is being spread about the residence of comrade Thoko are nothing short of Tribalism factional and narrow minded reasoning for an event such as this. She is a resident of ward 91 in Tshwane and has been active in her branch for the longest time. We cannot allow ourselves to be divided by people who do not know facts but substantiate them with rumours and lies a out the residence of the mayoral candidate. We would like to emphasise our unwavering support of the mayor elect and will work tirelessly with her to ensure that the ANC retains Tshwane with an overwhelming majority. SANCO continues to have faith in the processes of the ANC. We are unshaken by hooligans who are only trying to create chaos to protect their interests now that comrade Sputla is no longer going to be mayor. We would also like to commend comrade Sputla for and Mapiti Matsena for subjecting themselves to the rigorous process of the ANC. It couldn't have been easy for them to go through these times especially considering how strained and tense things have been in the region. Equally, SANCO would like to commend the outgoing mayor comrade Sputla for going out in support of comrade Thoko Didiza. It shows the maturity of comrades in the city. We are sure his leadership will still be needed by the ANC and we hope he will be the ANC sees fit to deploy him elsewhere. SANCO feels it's time to recommit ourselves to unifying the region's alliance partners, Namely, SANCO, the SACP and COSATU towards the same mandate to ensuring a victory for the ANC come August 3rd. We also recommit ourselves to working with the Youth league and the women's league of the MDM to make sure the there is not opposition to the party that governs the people. We pledge to work tirelessly to kill factions that divide the movement and getting back to basics on issues relating to the basics and working for the ANC Issued by: SANCO communications committee [email protected] 082 950 0839 __________ Information from ESET NOD32 Antivirus, version of virus signature database 13701 (20160624) __________ The message was checked by ESET NOD32 Antivirus. http://www.eset.com -- -- You are subscribed.
