Tracker predicts ANC victory

TNA Reporter, The New Age, Johannesburg, 29 July 2016

The ANC's high octane election campaign seems to be paying dividends with
the latest ANN7/C-Voter election tracker projecting decisive victories for
the party in Gauteng's hotly contested metros.

According to ANN7's final election tracker, to be released tonight, the ANC
is also tipped to sweep the board in all nine provinces with the DA and EFF
trailing by substantial margins.

In Tshwane, the tracker projects an ANC victory with the party garnering
46.6% support of registered voters compared to the DA's 40.8% and the EFF's
7.4%. With 4.4% of the electorate still undecided, the ANC could still
obtain an overall majority and negate the need for the party to enter into
coalition talks with other parties.

Despite a denial from the EFF that it would engage the ANC on the formation
of a coalition, a senior source in the ruling party said yesterday that they
were engaging with the party about forming a coalition if required.

In the Johannesburg metro, the ANC is on track to retain control of the
country's economic hub with a projected 49.8% support compared to the DA's
35.1% and the EFF's 6.6%. The ANC is expected to garner further support from
a 6.7% undecided voter pool. This will ensure that party will breach the 50%
barrier for outright control of the metro.

ANC 10% ahead of DA in NMB

The battle for control of the Nelson Mandela Bay metro also seems to be
going the way of the ANC despite ongoing predictions that the party will
lose out to the DA. The latest Tracker prediction indicates that the ANC is
leading the race for control with 47.9% compared to the DA's 38.3% and the
EFF's 4%. The undecided vote stands at 7.5%.

As expected, the Ekurhuleni and Cape Town metros will remain in the hands of
the ANC and DA respectively.

In Ekurhuleni the ANC commands 56.6% support compared to the DA's 34.4% and
EFf's 3.9%.

The DA maintains firm control in Cape Town with 53.4% compared to the ANC's
27.2% and EFF's 3.3%.

Sources in the ANC's Gauteng provincial structures predicts 56% support in
Johannesburg and 52% in Tshwane.

ANN7 (DStv 405) will be broadcasting the full outcomes of its final election
tracker tonight at 5pm.
