Prensa Latina.png Over 100 Kenyan Schools Affected by Arson >From Nairobi, in Prensa Latina, Cuba, 29 July 2016 More than a hundred high schools in Kenya have been set on fire by their students during the past two months, according to media reports. The investigations are yet to determine the reasons for these attacks in locations around the country that apparently are not related. Kenya School Arson.jpg Some sources of the Ministry of Education have stated their belief that the students set fire to their dormitories as a result of their frustration at not being able to copy in exams. But the president of the Association of Secondary Schools in Kenya, John Awiti, told the Daily Nation that the teaching community has found no evidence linking the fires with attempts of cheating on tests. Kenyan media has drawn attention to the attacks, which are causing a crisis in the country. The government has taken over 100 students to court, and accused them of conspiracy to cause fires and destroy. Despite this, the fires, caused mostly students in dormitories, continue and five schools were set ablaze on Tuesday night.
