COSATU Press statement
COSATU WC strike on 7 October 2016 COSATU will be marching to Parliament on Friday 7 October 2016 at 13 00 hours. There they will hand over a memorandum to Parliament and to the Cape Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The memorandum will focus on the following demands raised in the march: . Demand the total banning of Labour Brokers . Fight against job losses . Demand the minimum wage . Defend collective Bargaining . Proper health and safety . Implement the NHI scrap the taxation amendment law . Demand free education Workers will leave their workplaces from 10 hours in the morning and will proceed to Cape Town with the free trains provided. The march will start from Keizergracht Street at 13h00 hours and proceed to Parliament. COSATU calls on all workers to join the strike and the march to Parliament. COSATU has followed section 77 of the Labour relations act, so all workers [COSATU and Non COSATU] are legally entitled to participate in the strike.
