SADTU Calls for Tighter Security after Soweto Principal Stabbed

Masego Rahlaga, Eye Witness News, Johannesburg, 15 November 2016

The South African Democratic Teachers Union (Sadtu) has called on the
Gauteng Education Department to take the safety and security of teachers and
pupils at schools seriously after the stabbing of a principal in Soweto.

Nothemba Lebepe was stabbed multiple times in full view of pupils at the
Paul Mosaka Primary School in Pimville on Monday, allegedly by a former
teacher.

The teacher resigned last year after claims that he lied about his
qualifications.

SADTU's Tseliso Ledimo said: "We strongly condemn it because we have been
raising issues of safety and security in schools. But this matter must be
given closer and attention."
