Syria dismisses UN's massacre fears as terrorist propaganda

Syria and Russia condemned Western parroting of terrorist propaganda
yesterday as insurgents in east Aleppo announced their surrender.

Free Syrian Army legal adviser Osama Abu Zayd said a ceasefire had been
agreed yesterday evening for both militants and civilians to evacuate the
square-mile Salaheddin district, where they were holding out.

Brutal terrorist group Nour el-Din el-Zinki spokesman Yasser al-Youssef
confirmed the deal, taking advantage of the government's amnesty offer. Some
3,000 civilians escaped the area yesterday morning through humanitarian
corridors opened by the army - the latest daily exodus.

It brought the total over the previous 24 hours to 7,800, including 3,900
children - according to the Russian military co-ordination centre in Syria.

It added that 375 guerillas had surrendered under the government's amnesty
offer in addition to more than 700 over the previous 24-hour period.
Residents in central Aleppo thronged the streets as antiaircraft guns filled
the sky with streams of tracer fire.

RT news reporter Lizzie Phelan reported from the scene: "All of downtown
Aleppo tonight is filled with people celebrating." Yesterday UN officials
including secretary-general Ban Ki Moon repeated claims by insurgent-linked
groups that Syrian troops had executed 82 civilians, including women and
children, in newly liberated districts.

But they admitted the reports could not be verified. None of the residents
reached by the Associated Press news agency said they had witnessed the
alleged killings.

The Syrian armed forces denied the claims, calling them "a desperate
attempt" to garner international sympathy for the defeated terrorists.

The UN security council was set to hold an emergency debate on Aleppo last
night.

Earlier, Western leaders repeated demands for a ceasefire and aid for the
rebel-held square mile. French President Francois Hollande demanded Russia
facilitate aid to civilians in the insurgent pocket, saying the
"humanitarian situation . is unacceptable."

Russia has been providing much of the aid to the 110,000 civilians able to
flee in the past few weeks in the Syrian army's rapid advance.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov attacked the US government for
leading calls for a halt to the decisive battle of the war.

"We are tired of hearing this whining from our American colleagues in the
current administration that we need to immediately halt military action," he
told reporters in Serbia.
