President Zuma, Remarks at launch of Mbizana Rural Enterprise Development
RED Hub

We want all our rural areas to have economic activities so that our people
can have jobs and also be able to make a living from the land and from small
businesses in rural areas. It cannot be that we must all go to the cities to
earn a living. -

ANC statement on the changes in the cabinet

ANC calls on its members and leaders to display unity of purpose at this
time. Diversity and plurality of views does not mean division but robust and
necessary engagement within our movement in our quest to deliver on our

The ANC Youth League views on the announcement of cabinet reshuffle

The ANC Youth League is excited, happy, overjoyed and jubilant at the
announcement by President Jacob Zuma on the cabinet reshuffle. No one is
above the ANC, and no one is irreplaceable. The constitution grants the
President alone the powers to appoint the Cabinet. We are pleased that it
was explicitly mentioned that, "The changes bring some younger MPs and women
into the National Executive in order to benefit from their energy,
experience and expertise." - http://www.ancyl.org.za/show.php?id=8819

Zuma's Reshuffle Blasted

SA's President Zuma made a cabinet reshuffle in which he sacked finance
minister Pravin Gordhan. Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa, who could succeed
Mr Zuma as ANC leader in December, called Gordhan's sacking "unacceptable."
Deputy general secretary Solly Mapaila had warned on Thursday that the seven
SACP cabinet members would quit if Gordhan was fired. It wasn't clear if the
threat would be carried out. A small march on in Pretoria of the Save SA
group was joined by Zwelinzima Vavi, the former COSATU leader of who was
fired for repeatedly undermining it. Teaching union SADTU attacked the
appointment of communications minister Faith Muthambi to the public services
post. -
