Let's use Mandela Day to Intensify the Fight against Poverty

President Jacob Zuma calls upon South Africans to use Mandela Day on 18 July
to take forward the fight against poverty.

"We believe that South Africans and young people in particular have greater
opportunities to change our environment and communities for better, help us
grow our economy and contribute each and on their own to the prosperous
country that Tata Madiba lived and died for. The youth must be inspired and
groomed to be agents of change in fighting for freedom from poverty,
inequality and unemployment," said President Zuma. -

President Zuma directs Government to empower black lawyers

President Jacob Zuma has directed the Minister of Justice to attend to the
concerns raised by members of the Black Lawyers Association (BLA) during
their protest march today at the Union Buildings. Amongst the issues raised
by the BLA was its dissatisfaction on the lack of representation of black
lawyers and women legal practitioners in the State's briefing patterns and
distribution of legal work.

"The legal fraternity is one that we are targeting as part of our radical
socioeconomic transformation programme," said President Zuma. -

'A crisis of epic proportions is sweeping over Russia' - Lenin

Russia is dangerously unstable again in July 1917. With a crisis brewing in
the Provisional Government, and WWI front line situation deteriorating, the
Bolsheviks are gaining momentum.

To quell any potential rebellions on the front line, the government has
dissolved all fighting regiments showing allegiance to Bolshevism, which
seeks to end Russian participation in the war and transfer government power
to the Soviets - the councils of soldiers' and workers' deputies. -

Ex-President Humala Jailed Without Trial

Former Peruvian president Olllanta Humala and his wife were on Thursday
night hit with 18 months "preventative detention," without charge or trial,
following "corruption" allegations. Humala was part of the wave of
progressive governments elected across Latin America from 1998 onwards,
including Brazil's Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva - convicted this week of
corruption charges.

Peruvian President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski, a former IMF and World Bank
official, has joined forces with other right-wing regional presidents -
including Brazil's scandal-ridden Michel Temer - in calling for Hugo
Chavez's successor Nicolas Maduro's overthrow. -

Macron Vows 'New Approach To Syria'

"We now have a new approach in Syria, because we want results and we want to
work closely together with all our partners," said French President Macron.
"We to build an inclusive and sustainable political solution."

Mr Macron said the new approach meant abandoning his and US President
Trump's predecessors' goals of regime change against Syrian President Bashar
al-Assad. "That's no longer a prerequisite for France. For seven years, we
did not have an embassy in Damascus - and still we have no solution," he
said -
