ANCWL2.jpg ANCWL Statement, 4 August 2017 Retrenchments by AngloGold Ashanti and Sibanye The African National Congress Women's League (ANCWL) has noted with dismay politically motivated retrenchments by AngloGold Ashanti and Sibanye Gold. The ANCWL is on records exposing the regime change agenda led by the Chairperson of AngloGold Ashanti Sipho Pityana and supported by Sibanye Gold CEO Neal Froneman. Representing the views of their companies, they have both consistently called for the removal of the democratically elected State President of the Republic. Now they are embarking on retrenching employees to further increase unemployment in the country which stands to delegitimise the ANC led government. These planned retrenchments are nothing but a politically motivated strategy to advance their Save SA goals. The ANCWL calls on the Ministry of Mineral Resources to convene an urgent meeting with the Board, the majority shareholders of AngloGold Ashanti, Sibanye Gold and Labour Unions. Over centuries, the mining companies benefitted from the mineral resources of the continent and invested their proceedings in developing countries which colonised Africa. AngloGold and Sibanye Gold must use their wealth created over years to save job losses. The ANCWL supporters and members will stand with the poor and the working class in challenging any politically motivated retrenchments by any sector in the country.
