SADTU opposes Molefe appointment as PIC CEO Dyaell Gaetsewe, SABC, Johannesburg, 15 September 2017 A key public service union, teachers' union South African Democratic Teachers Union (SADTU), says it will oppose any attempt by government to appoint former Eskom CEO Brian Molefe as CEO of the Public Investment Corporation (PIC) The PIC manages state pension funds and there have been reports that it could become the latest victim of state capture. The fund has assets exceeding R2 trillion. SADTU says it will do anything possible to stop Molefe's appointment. The union representing no less than 250 000 public servants whose pension funds are being managed by the PIC, have vowed to do everything to oppose any attempts to capture this entity. It alleged that Molefe did everything within his power as CEO of Eskom to empower Gupta linked enterprises through alleged shady contracts and deals. SADTU says it will be marching together with fellow workers under the banner of COSATU on September 27, to take a stand against state capture, corruption and job losses.
