ANCWL statement on Johan Rupert's comments on radical economic transformation

Mr Rupert and his cohorts are hell-bent in ensuring that the current ownership,
management and control of economy is not tampered with and remains in the hands
of the few. The economically marginalised and the landless must unite and
confront white arrogance from capitalists as Mr Rupert.

The ANCWL will not be deterred from demanding radical economic transformation.
The majority of the people must be active participants in the economy of the
country that the likes of Johan Rupert has monopolised for years. -

Opening remarks by the Chair of SADC, President Zuma, at the Double Troika
Summit of Heads of State and Government, DIRCO, Tshwane

It is regrettable that the Commander of the Lesotho Defence Force, Lt General
Motsomotso, who was with us here in this building three weeks ago, tragically
lost his life in a senseless killing.

We urge the Government and people of Lesotho to finalise all the required
reforms within 18 months. SADC cannot be in Lesotho forever. We look forward to
receiving the report of the Ministerial Fact Finding Mission and the
recommendations of the Defence Chiefs who met on 12-13 September. -

Venezuela 'Will Never Bow to Imperialism's Threats'

"Today it is Venezuela, but yesterday it was Nicaragua. It is Syria, it is
Palestine," warned Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza. "We have seen things we
thought we would never see in Venezuela. Men burnt alive for being Chavistas,
or presumed Chavistas, 29 of them, nine of whom died."

Constituent assembly speaker Delcy Rodriguez said: "Venezuela is the victim of
an unconventional war... [The US Imperialists] have the impudence to address
our internal affairs as if they were the affairs of the empire," Ms Rodriguez
said. -

Indian Peaceniks Defend Bolivarian Democracy

India's peace movement defended Venezuela's "new spirit of democracy" against
imperialist war threats on Saturday. Speaking at the opening of Todos Somos
Venezuela, All India Peace and Solidarity Organisation secretary-general
Professor Sonia Gupta denounced the threats from "those who think they own the
world."

"We are here to defend Venezuelan sovereignty and democracy. Those who threaten
Venezuela with military action must see it as a threat," said Prof Gupta.
"Venezuela is a threat to the 'democracy' of parties taking turns to rule. It
is a threat of true democracy." - https://tinyurl.com/ycwkjpy2
