NUM distances itself from the killings in the Rustenburg area

As the NUM we have been asking the following four questions:
1. How long is blood going to have to flow in the mines?
2. What do you gain when you start killing and shedding blood?
3. Can you drink it? Can you make bricks out of it?
4. Who has ever benefited from blood running in the streets?

The NUM has consistently condemned the killings of mine workers in the
Rustenburg area. It does not matter to what union or association they belong.

NUM distances itself from killings in the mines, blames Amcu

AMCU members killed recently include Tholakele 'Bhele' Dlunga, Mvelisi Biyela,
Zingisa Mzendana, Daniel Maseko, and Mpeke Nonyana.

"The killing of mineworkers is deplorable and unacceptable," said NUM
spokesperson Livhuwani Mammburu. "When the NUM was formed 35 years ago, the NUM
fought strongly against tribal conflicts and bloodshed. The NUM fought
tribalism and managed to unite workers from across tribal lines. So it is
indeed mischievous for anyone now to start associating this mighty union with
any sort of killings or violent acts." - https://tinyurl.com/ycxqbf7w

Dlamini Zuma supporters in battle to secure the final prize - the Eastern Cape

Dlamini Zuma supporters have waged a bold campaign in key provinces, with
strong players from here on their campaign caucus team. The question, however,
is, why the Dlamini Zuma camp is so keen on the Eastern Cape if it has already
secured the two biggest provinces.

In the second biggest province, Mpumalanga, premier DD Mabuza has apparently
promised to drop his call for a unity candidate and support Dlamini Zuma. An
organisation closely aligned to Mabuza instructed ANC branches to nominate
Dlamini Zuma. - https://tinyurl.com/y874lawl

Palestinian Leaders: Britain Must Apologise for Balfour, and Make Things Right

A major demonstration was held in Ramallah. More Palestinians protested at the
UN headquarters in Gaza and the British consulate in Jerusalem, as well as in
Jenin, Salfit, Tubas, Hebron and Nablus, and Bethlehem.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said the British government of 1917 knew
"Palestine was owned and inhabited by another people, the Palestinian people."
PLO secretary-general Saeb Erekat argued that by inviting Israeli PM Netanyahu
to celebrate the centenary in London, "Britain has chosen to celebrate 100
years of injustice, racism and violence." - https://tinyurl.com/yb86ss8e

Israel Bombards Syria for Second Time in Two Months

Israel bombarded central Syria for the second time in two months on Wednesday
night, hitting a warehouse in Homs province. A Lebanese security service source
told Russia's Sputnik news: "According to our information, Israeli aircraft
carried out a missile strike on the territory of Syria from Lebanon's
airspace." Israel has repeatedly bombed Syrian troops fighting
al-Qaida-affiliated extremists and allowed the rebels to call up Israeli air
support at will.

Meanwhile, six Russian long-range bombers blitzed Isis ammunition dumps and
command posts. - https://tinyurl.com/y7va6ryl

Stop the 'Tricks' and Implement the Peace We Agreed, FARC Fighters Tell Bogota

Demobilised national liberation fighters are demanding the Colombian government
implement a year-old peace deal. Common Alternative Revolutionary Force (FARC)
leader Ivan Marquez called the government's failure to implement the landmark
peace accords a "swindle." Speaking at a press conference in Bogota on
Wednesday, he urged President Juan Manuel Santos to take the "necessary
decisions so that the commitments materialise."

FARC also confirmed Monday's reports that its leader Rodrigo Londono, better
known by his nom-de-guerre Timochenko, would stand in next year's presidential
election. - https://tinyurl.com/yd8d4t6u
