Thanks for the clarification. I agree that a machine's ability to comprehend meaning and classification from language is currently not intelligent enough to replace people's efforts.

What I was concerned with is the misunderstanding of the utility of that del.icio.us/new interface with the Recommended and Popular tags defining aid. The "Recommended" part quickly reminds me of *my* classification vocabulary and I use this part a lot as a starting point. Also the "Popular" part reminds me always that my vocabulary is limited and perhaps that my classification system could use some improvement, either a refinement (webdev -> ajax), or to point out the meaninglessness of certain words (tools). I like this interface a lot and I would use delicious less if this input system disappeared. (Something like trying to use Microsoft Outlook categories). I was thinking that a machine based classification could help me just like a "Popular" recommendation, thus improving that delicious/new interface. It could use words in the page, or bring out relevant words based on words in the page, or any multitude of algorithms which reminds me of relevant vocabulary or tags (non-word vocabulary). But in the end, I am ultimately deciding the relevance. Is the point of social bookmarking to provide an exact, culture-current definition of a tag? or a URL? or a tag group? To create groupthink recommendations? (I'm not asserting that it should have a point, I guess I'm arguing about the side-effects.)
