All those little Java applets <http://www.aharef.info/static/htmlgraph/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fweb.mac.com%2\ Fdynamist%2FiWeb%2Fdynamist%2Fduh%2FArchive.html> for graphing topology over the years would probably be a decent start. Get some color coding for, say, concentration of friends' pooled references to a particular shade of usage for a term, and you might see something of interest start to take shape...? Link up the nodes to their instances, etc. ... I, for example, want to show a very few links as super-important almost anywhere they show up, so a way of highlighting or enlarging -- again, like Digg Swarm <http://labs.digg.com/swarm/> (not DiggSpy, I goofed last time saying it :-P) -- or accentuating nodes in keeping with how I was talking about arbitrary, user-and-instance sub-ecology -associated tagging... Letting you drag associations between nodes, and select some to "bundle" in a visual fashion like that with everything laid out...you'd probably want to give ppl stakes to pin down, say, their main navigation, tags, whatever nodes, say, to always appear at the top, so every view isn't a completely rearranged orientation...
