How does del.icio.us generate the site thumbnails? I don't think it's a good idea to automatically update bookmarks, even just taking users into account. It's a somewhat unexpected thing to do (I can't think of another app that does this), but more importantly, if links are automatically rewritten, conceivably useful information could be lost. For example after a redesign, some (poorly-implemented) sites will rewrite a link like http://example.com/archive/2004/07/13/an-enduring-illusion.html to http://example.com/404.asp in which case you lose a whole lot of information that could've helped you reconstruct the link.
