Personally, I hate it when sites open things in new windows. I think
that the business of a link is generally to provide me with the
address of a page I want to visit. How I choose to view it should be
up to me. As you mentioned, for those users who prefer their links to
open in new windows/tabs, there are extensions that will do it for
them. As for me, I'll continue to middle-click, and be grateful that I
have the option of opening links however I choose.
