I would shy away from Mandrake personally. Distros you may want to consider for PPC besides YDL are:

Ubuntu - Debian based with a different package repository
Debian - Woody for stable, Sid or Sarge for more current packages
Gentoo - You'll learn a great deal, but it will also be time consuming

Please note that this is just my opinion. My opinion and $2.00 will get you a cup of coffee. ;^)

  I have ordered one of the most recent 12" iBooks. I have Linux on
several non-Mac desktop machines, so I am of course interested in having
it on the laptop.
  I suspect that the general consensus on this list will be in favor of
YDL, but what about Mandrake? I have it on one of my desktops, and I
like it. In your opinion, how does its PPC offering compare to YDL?
