Actually it isn't that hard...provided you can get enough hard drive space, RAM and a CD-ROM drive that will read the CD's...unless you go with a net install. I believe that 64MB of RAM made things work better.
Being a YDL list, I advise you to go with YDL, probably 3.0 on a machine that old. Its all precompiled.
You must use the NUBUS-Pmac tools to get any Linux other than mklinux on that machine

This is in addition to the YDL3 discs.
I think Debian was a little easier to install, but at the time I was just starting with Linux and most of the info/faqs/howtos were geared towards Redhat so I went with YDL 3.
