On my box it never wakes back up. I've tried while logged into GNOME, at the GDM login, and at a terminal.

Yes, i have an iBook G4 that refuses to wake up, but i don't have a fix
for it yet.
Because sleep support for the iBook G4's were recently added to the
kernel, I have no idea if our problems are the same or not, since yours
have had sleep for some time.
