I didn't think of it--/proc/bus/usb/devices has no listing for the CD Burner--just the USB 2 case it's in--my system has three CD/DVD burners--so I'll need to redo the right symlink & see---
Been spending the last couple of hours involved with turning source RPMs for Gnome 2.8 into something I can install--Really would rather have 2.8 instead of 2.6---Might have run into depend *ell with shared_mime_info 0.15 tho'---Took a break from it to "come up for air"---Will dive in again soon---am using a Source DVD from RedHat--Any Comments/Ideas/Thoughts???

Does "ls /proc/bus/usb" tell you anything? Did you recreate the /dev/cdrom2 symlink to /dev/scd0 after kudzu deleted it?

anyone have an ideas why I can't get to my external USB 2 case?? I
updated to the 2.6.10 kernel & kuzdu saw fit to drop it from my
list--had been working in 2.6.8 & I didn't check when I went thru
2.6.9---Can I run kuzdu from the term?? Would like to have my external
burner back---I made a
none /proc/bus/usb usbfs defaults
0 0 &
/dev/cdrom2 /mnt/cdrom2 auto noauto,user
0 0
in fstab--mkdir for /mnt/cdrom2 & I "can't mount special
device"---HELP!!
