Hi Everyone,

I know this is off topic, but I also know there are some very bright guys on this list :)

I am asking for suggestions for a replacement for phpBB. Our phpBB server (running on Mac OS X [10.3, i think]) recently got hacked, and the upper management in the U of Minnesota hates it, citing security reasons.

I've been commissioned to find a substitute, but I don't know really what to look at.

The requirements for a replacement are (starting with the most important)
1) It needs to be secure (example: our previous server hadn't been touched in a year)
2) We need to be able to host everything ourselves
(the OS is not an option, (prefer in order Mac OS X, Linux PPC, Linux x86, Windows)
3) One software install needs to run totally separate forums
(with separate UI customizations for each forum)
4) It needs to look and feel like phpBB
5) It needs equal and/or should have greater management features
(i.e. removing a group of users is a request)
6) It should to be free (Open Source preferred, paid and/or licensed products are acceptable)

I know this has come up before, but we need something within these guidelines.

And if anyone can come up with an excellent Linux solution, YDL will be on that Mac in the blink of an eye! ;)

Thanks,
Andy
