The blue login screen was brown, and text input boxes were yellow instead of white. I can't remember exactly what fixed it, but it was one of the options in XF86Config. I think it might have been removing "UseFBDev" "true". But my pb has that ATI Radeon Mobility M10/M11, so you might have a different problem... I've attached my XF86Config for reference...
