Jagi, I had the same problem running 4.0 on two G5 Xserves.
The problem is that there is a bug in the nfs code for the 2.6.8 kernel
code that comes with 4.0.
That problem is cleared in 2.6.10, and presumeably the most recent 2.6.12
stable kernel.
I couldn't use those because they introduced a bug in the Fibre Channel
drivers, but
if you don't have Fibre Channel then either of those should be fine.
I hope this helps.

Subject: NFS mount problem (YDL4.0)
(Embedded image moved to file: pic00958.jpg)
Dear all,
I'm writing about NFS mount problems.
When I accessed files in NFS mounted directory,
the NFS server machine hanged.
At that time, I got following error message at the NFS server,
"Machine check in kernel mode
Caused by (from SRR1=141000): transfer error ack signal"
Also, the following warning appear at mount time (NFS client),
"nfs warning: mount version older than kernel"
So I can not use NFS mount.
My system is as followings,
OS : Yellow Dog Linux 4.0
Machine : XServeG4 X 2
(one is the NFS server and the other is the client)
I tried some mount options like
nfsvers=3,rsize=32768,wsize=32768
But the problems does not change.
Could you give me some advice for it?
Any information from you will begreatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance.
Toru YAGI
