Fwiw, this post amounts to encouragement to keep asking: I'm running FC4 on three PCs, and will on a fourth: we had a power failure just at the end of the install, and I messed up shutting it down. Now it won't boot, but that's a grub problem or an MBR problem or a hardware problem -- and I'm looking for help from FC people. So far, I've had only two genuine problems, and both are/were minor. I didn't know enough to put an rpmnew file in -- it was there -- to replace yum.conf on a machine upgraded from FC1; once I did that, all went well, except for the other problem. (Upgrades from FC2 and FC3 went swimmingly.) But the other problem is a pinprick: I can't seem to get the launcher for Epiphany 1.6.1 to use the proper icon. Some silly detail, I'm sure. Meanwhile, I simply remember to click on the orange question mark when I want to launch Epiphany. And now that I can actually run Galeon again -- my favorite browser, till it hit dependency hell -- I expect to run both Epiphany and Konqueror a lot less. (My main three are Opera for bookmarks, Dillo for speed, and Firefox for special cases.) Other than that, I'm already thinking the default decision is going to be replacing YDL4 with FC4 -- not out of dissatisfaction, but just for the convenience of having one less OS to ride herd on. So do post any more that you get, a/o encourage replies to appear here and not just under the list. Oh, and one other thing: there's a long thread on gmane.linux.redhat.fedora.general complaining about somebody's failed install. Odd to see someone else having more problems with a new OS than I do -- but you may want to have a look .... -- Beartooth Neo-Redneck, Linux Evangelist FC4, YDL 4; Pine 4.63, Pan 0.14.2.91; Privoxy 3.0.3; Dillo 0.8.5, Opera 8.01, Firefox 1.0.4, Epiphany 1.6.1 Remember that I have little idea what I am talking about. _______________________________________________ yellowdog-general mailing list [email protected] http://lists.terrasoftsolutions.com/mailman/listinfo/yellowdog-general HINT: to Google archives, try '<keywords> site:terrasoftsolutions.com'
