Sorry, made the mistake of letting BeMail put this out on my default

Subject: Re: [ydl-gen] boot problems--workaround: forcing 'fsck' at
boot allows system to boot properly
Date: Sun, 16 Oct 2005 04:02:37 +0100 IST

These problems are caused by the hardware, not the software.

The "Lombard" G3 Powerbooks are not designed to handle more than 384MB
RAM, and I'm actually surprised they boot with 512. No matter what, the
actually hardware, and its firmware, is not designed to handle 512MB
RAM. I'm surprised YDL booted, to be honest - my ye-olde 5500 won't
power on with more than its maximum (136MB) RAM.
