So Jake, you do understand what that implies, yes?

The users are either not accessing the areas where you expect them to be restricted to or they are visiting a system they should not have access to.
This question of where they are allowed needs to be tidied up. Ok?

Good Luck and watch those colons ... Derick. :)

I found the problem, it was missing 1 colon in that particular netgroup name in the password file. So, actually all of the users logging into that particular machine should have been having the problem. I guess the other users weren't logging into that box.

Thanks,
Jake

I have several G5's running YDL 4.0.1 in a nis environment. I have 1
user who can login to all the G5's except 1. When the user try to login to the particular machine the user get incorrect password. I've changed
the user's password several times but the user still can't login to the
server. This is the only user that is having this problem. I can login
to root and su - userid as the user just fine but when I try to login
directly to the server as the user or su to the user from my login I
get incorrect password even though I'm typing the correct password.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Jake

Hi Jake:
Did you check the passwd file, and group id for that user?

Here's a link with some hints in what to look at:

Best wishes..
