Hey guys, has anyone tried this yet? So, after finally installing MPlayer, I had a video that I wanted to check out on HD-DVD, Pirates, actually. Well, I popped it into the PS3, then in Nautilus noticed that the drive was mounted. So, I went to the video_ts, and opened some of the files. It actually worked! I was able to play it from the DVD on MPlayer. Well, it needed tweaking because since it was HD-DVD the buffer rate was slow, so the video was slow, because it said there are too many video frames in the buffer. So, then I right clicked and copied it to my Desktop folder. And, it copied it. Shouldn't it be harder than that? When I ran it from the file and not the DVD it was still slow, so it seems to be a processing problem(Probably). On a side note, when a Blu-ray disc is inserted, it doesn't mount it, but it does say unable to mount, and it lists the movie. So, at least something is getting read. I think there are so many possibilities with this, but I don't know where t o begin. I just wanted to get this out there. It would be funny if it was easy to read and play HD-DVDs with our Blu-ray PS3 with YDL. I am thinking about posting a video showing it, but I am about to get pretty busy at work. Take it easy guys.

My PS3 is connected to my Samsung S5687 DLP using a HDMI cable and I can output 1080p from the ps3 game OS with no problems. But when I try to use ps3videomode command and switch it to 1080p it doesn't look right at all. It only looks right if I set it to 720p. Does anyone have any ideas on how to tweak it so it outputs correctly in 1080p? -stan ------------------------------ Message: 2 Date: Mon, 15 Jan 2007 10:59:44 -0800 (PST) From: "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: Re: [ydl-gen] yellowdog-general Digest, Vol 29, Issue 23 To: [email protected] Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" This is in response to how to install a skin for mplayer. There is a good thread on this, read down near the bottom, about installing a skin on mplayer, which then becomes gmplayer. http://www.ps3hax.com/linux_applications/mplayer_how_to_install_on_ps3-t40.0.html [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Send yellowdog-general mailing list submissions to [email protected] To subscribe or unsubscribe via the World Wide Web, visit http://lists.terrasoftsolutions.com/mailman/listinfo/yellowdog-general or, via email, send a message with subject or body 'help' to [EMAIL PROTECTED] You can reach the person managing the list at [EMAIL PROTECTED] When replying, please edit your Subject line so it is more specific than "Re: Contents of yellowdog-general digest..." I don't quite understand why the web browser would work but not ftp. Did you do a standard installation? Once I got my RJ-45 connector problem sorted out, networking was a breeze. Are you using DHCP? This was the reason I bought the PS3 to begin with, and once I manage to tear myself away from MotorStorm (and now Ridge Racer -- it seems that I did not predict what allure the games would have to me, who hasn't been into video games really since his old Amiga in 1990), I want to check this out. I'm moving this weekend, and the high-speed internet will be installed on Sunday, and the Cell does have an allure that is completely different than the games :-) Regards, John > Can you get command-line ftp to work? As in, I am not exactly sure how to do it. Anyways, I was wondering if someone knew really quick how to add a skin, since I really don't want to have to always use the terminal to run MPlayer. I have seen the documenation, but it is a little confusing to me. I have downloaded and extracted a skin I like, but I don't know how to add it. Do I place it in the right folder, and then re ./configure and install? Also, is there a way to add it to the "taskbar" so that I can select in from Enlightenment, like the original MPlayer is selectable? Thanks for any help guys. Jump onto the Downloads and fine the repositories text file that describes what needs to be done. If needed, I can point you to where to find it.
