I have three problems with Yellow dog Linux (all relating to YDL 3.0.1) that I am trying to solve:

3) I am trying to install on a PowerMac 6500/250 with a 250Mhz 603ev processor and 48 MB RAM (I am getting more). I go through the whole
(a) Yes, I suspect the low RAM is a big part of the problem.
Have successfully installed and used to connect to iNet via a router/DSL with other Win machines on small home network on both PowerMac 5400 and 5500 which use same logic board, memory as the 6500. Both machines had max RAM of 128 MB. I may even have some extra 64 MB pieces around.
install process, but when I finish entering the root password and other users, it tries to read the packages and then reverts to a weird multicolored multioverlapped screen that sits for 30 min (that is as long as I would wait). I then reboot and try agian. I tried with no video driver etc. and it still didn't work. I was wondering if (a) Do I need more RAM?
(b) can I do a text-based install?
(b) I've had success with both text and GUI installs, but not without fits and starts.
(c) what should my
prefs look like?

(d) are there any extra kernel options I should put on? (d) If memory serves me -expert install was recommended somewhere
I'm now using a G4 Mac for YDL but still have one of my 5500's out in the garage awaiting a hard drive transplant procedure so it can be resurrected as an Old World test machine.
