Thanks for everyones input! I downloaded the .iso again and burned the DVD on a different machine. I got the install to work correctly this time, although I had to use the text based install - my tv doesn't support 720p only 480 & 1080i. Finally got it to boot in graphical mode. I am tweaking it now - trying to get fonts to be readable at 1080i.
Once again, thanks to all. It's been so long since I burned a DVD that I've forgotten if there's an easy way to do it in Toast, X-CD-Roast, K3b, etc. But that's the other variable in the equation, along with the case of the drive itself being flaky. I always check the md5sum before burning an .iso, and I never burn a CD without verifying it. -PRH On Tuesday 02 January 2007 13:10, Derick Centeno wrote: > On Tue, 02 Jan 2007 12:27:09 -0500 > > <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > Thanks for the heads up. > > > > I have checked the md5sum value for the .iso file I downloaded and > > have verified that it matches the posted value for that .iso. > > > > Should I still be looking at issues with the installation DVD I > > burned, or should I be looking elsewhere? > > > > Once again any insights are greatly appreciated. > > Did you review the file: MD5SUMS-notes? > > Also what optical drive are you using to create the DVD?
