You'll need to get used to using a terminal and logging in as root to do updates, at least at first. At some point you might try installing Synaptic, KPackage (maybe this is already included in 5.0?), or some other graphical package manager. My favorite is Synaptic, as I use Debian Linux as my exclusive OS (on x86) at work, and I am most familiar with it. It's fantastic. Plugins are sometimes problematic. Sometimes there are patent issues, etc. There are some unofficial repositories for Fedora (e.g. multimedia codec repos) that may have what you're looking for; maybe some other list members have the URLs handy--I don't right now. Supposedly Fedora Core 5 repos and earlier should work with Yellow Dog (make sure that you use PowerPC packages from whatever repo you use, of course).
