Hi Ali:

About the modem, well at least it was attempted. After all, we are practically neighbors as we do at least live on the same planet. :)

Regarding the YDL 6 DVD. If you take the time to explore it carefully I don't think that there are any sources in it. I think that all the packages provided are compiled already. I recall that years ago TSS included the sources but I don't think the sources are present in the DVD. If they had been, you'd have no trouble seeing them as you opened the DVD and looked for either Sources or SRPMS. I don't see either.

One link to one of the public mirrors where the sources are located is here:

http://mirror.anl.gov/yellowdog/releases/yellowdog-6.0/

Look for SRPMS.

Best of Fortune...

Hi Derick,
Thanks a lot for your very helpful reply.
I have configured yum to use YDL 6 DVD as its main repository and it
works when I install packages one by one.It shows some python errors
when I try to install more than one packages at the same time.
I have installed kernel-source,gcc and their deps but I cant compile
kernel source because it says ld cant find crtl.o. I guess libc-devel
is not installed so I will try to install it and post the results.
If the problem persists I think I should reinstall YellowDog and
select all Development packages at the installation until my internet
connection works.
One really strange thing to me is why iMac G5 fans are not controlled.
As far as I remember YDL had Thermal support even before it went to
official kernel so there could be a bug in YDL 6 or my installation.
About the modem, thank you for your kindness but I leave in a country
that is so difficult to reach!
I have an old US Robotics Hardware Modem, I may buy a serial to usb
converter for it so it can work with my iMac. Even if it does not work
I will be an ADSL user soon.
Thanks again!
