Attached is an amended patch that fixes some issues:
* Removed the returned buffer from runBufferWithDummyWindow.
* #4 mentioned above.
Remaining work:
* Cleanup.
* The minibuffer still does not display the users text.
* Update GTK and Cairo UIs. I do not have a setup to compile the Cocoa UI.
* Move the changing of the static insert mark to be on window focus/unfocus.
* Fix any issues that might of cropped up due to changes since I last pulled.
