It is a easier to implement as it is. Also, I find our behaviour more
consistent, and
better altogether.
You are welcome to workaround this by rebinding the relevant operations...
I think
adding a simple "insert empty string" (insertN "") will prevent the text to
be saved.
If that works I might even be convinced to make it the default emacs
behaviour if we
keep the current one easily accessible.
