Hi,

I have been testing Yi once in a while in the last months/year and
here are a few comments from a user perspective:

* vim
- why not just make the vim mode the default one? (it seems more of
the developers are using and working on vim)

* gtk
- I haven't tested current head but it would be wonderful if the gtk
frontend could be made to work properly (recently when I tested it
again it still locks up very quickly with just a little editing) I
guess not many using it?

* emacs
- help (C-h) is needed for emacs
- self-insertion in dired is ugly (I started the other night reading
code to try to work out how to implement a sparser base keymap)

* minibuffer
- minibuffer text should be simplified: drop all the haskell char
quotes and list brackets

* config
- really wish there was runtime loading of config and customization -
HConf is not really attractive IMHO and it does not play well with
distro packaging

* C-z out of vty tends to leave the terminal in white on cyan?

* pango
- the pango frontend is still experimental I guess, but the defaults
don't seem good to me

Sorry, I did not check the issue tracker or mail archives to see if
any of items are already noted. I can probably do that based on any
replies to this post...

Probably the vim mode is better, but the emacs one is still far from
the production quality of Emacs.

Yes, I know patches are welcome... I will try to find time to
contribute something this year, but it is going to be a busy one
already. I have long dreamed of a fine "Emacs" in Haskell, it feels
like so close and yet so far. I do wish this project will continue to
flourish! :)

Jens
