New issue 340 by muranu...@gmail.com: Add a "cabal install" instruction for
beginners in README
http://code.google.com/p/yi-editor/issues/detail?id=340
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. "cabal install yi" didn't work,
2. so I downloaded github version,
3. and tried to install it according to the README.
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
What I saw in README was
* configure, compile and install yi as you would do for any other Cabal
package.
I didn't know what "as you would do for any other Cabal package" means. I
did know how to install named package from remote using cabal, but I didn't
know how to install local packages from a .cabal file. I looked into cabal
--help, and googled, for a while in vain, until by accident I found out
what I am supposed to do is to type "cabal install".
So, will you add that line in README for beginners?
Please provide relevant version information:
What version of Yi are you using? yi-editor-yi-cdd3b7e
What version of GHC? 7.0.2
What version of Cabal?
cabal-install version 0.8.2
using version 1.8.0.6 of the Cabal library
What operating system/version? OpenSUSE 11.2
If you generated it (--debug) please provide your .yi.dbg file
Please provide any additional information below.
