Without further investigation, it's hard to say whether it is related, but it sounds like it could be.
I was working on this a while ago, but I've stopped on this for now. I'm not aware of anyone else working on this at the moment, so I doubt a fix is likely in the short term. If you are interested in looking to this, I'd be happy to provide some guidance, but I don't currently have time to implement this myself.
