The issue appears to be with the SDCard. I would suggest you start by building
a kernel with a bundled initramfs, thus avoiding having to read the rootfs
from SD. You can find instructions on how to build the initramfs and bundle it
in the Yocto docs.
Essentially though you need to append the following lines to your local.conf
COMPATIBLE_HOST_pn-core-image-tiny-initramfs = "aarch64-poky-linux"
INITRAMFS_IMAGE = "core-image-tiny-initramfs"
INITRAMFS_IMAGE_BUNDLE = "1"
You will also need to create a layer or use an existing layer to host a
busybox_%.bbappend with the contents
SRC_URI += "file://mdev-fragment.cfg"
FILESEXTRAPATHS_prepend := "${THISDIR}/${PN}:"
and a busybox/mdev-fragment.cfg with the contents
CONFIG_MDEV = y
Once you do this you will get a second kernel image in tmp/deploy, one without
the initramfs bundled and the other with. Use the one with the initramfs
bundled and adjust your kernel cmdline to use /dev/ram0 as root= instead of
root=/dev/mmcblk0p1.
I am hopeful that this will get your boot to complete. At this point you can
attempt to mount /dev/mmcblk0p1which will most likely cause things to fail.
Having the system up and running with the initramfs should get you in a better
possition to debug the issue.
Before you do any of the above I would also try a different SD card or two.
