Your sort commit is one of the most recent ones:
   da52dce440 bitbake.conf: alphabetize contents of ASSUME_PROVIDED

I don't see the value in trimming the list too much especially since
you typically only have to build them once.

Of the tools you listed:
    cmake, curl, elfutils
curl is the only one that I'd want to add to the list but
it's not a default install across all distros I assume so
why bother. I prefer to use our own cmake and elfutils.
