You’re right, Ross. They’re present in modules-qemux86-64.tgz. The problem is 
that for some reason the drivers are not being copied to the root filesystem.

For example, the expected 
lib/modules/3.14.36ltsi-yocto-standard/kernel/drivers/net/ directory is not 
created in the rootfs.

qemux86-64 certainly ships with network drivers for the qemu machine.  What 
drivers are you expecting to be present?
