I agree with this idea, and more generally I'd love to see more discussion here on how tags are used in Yojimbo. For an application that makes great play of the advantages of tagging content as opposed to it's hierarchical organisation I'm surprised this isn't an area for more active debate. Maybe I've missed earlier discussion covering this but when I posted a few ideas a couple of weeks back on this topic there was no take-up at all (no sour grapes, just slightly surprised grapes ;o).

I'm sure many users out there have all sorts of great ideas for how to improve the usefulness of tagging (especially when it comes to browsing tagged content, where I think the current implementation is sorely lacking) and I'd encourage a discussion on the relative merits of the ideas put forward.

Or is everyone satisfied with what they have at the moment and can see no way for it to be improved?

Don't know if this has been discussed before, but it would be nice (for me) if Yojimbo had a tag browser, i.e. a way to either drill down a tag hierarchy, or a way to shift-select multiple tags, and see a resulting list of matched documents.

Another nice feature would be a tag management system that goes a bit further than the current preferences; in particular, to address the situation that you want to consolidate the tags "pdf" and "pdfs" into a single tag.

Kind regards,
