I'm a newbie to Yojimbo, really just getting started to learn how it works today. But, just like some previous posters have noted, F8, doesn't work properly. I'm running a 20" iMac with the aluminum keyboard and just before playing around with Yojimbo, downloaded the latest set of patches from Apple, which included an aluminum keyboard firmware update (Mac OS X 10.5.2 (9C7010)). Could that be the problem, or are there others who've had this problem and resolved it?

On the aluminum keyboard, the function keys are overloaded with two purposes.

1) Media Keys - the do what their icon says
2) Function Keys - they act as their function key counterparts

(This is similar to how they work on portable computers.)

In the Keyboard & Mouse Preferences pane, there is a setting "Use All F1, F2, etc. keys as standard function keys".

When this is turned on, pressing F8 will act as F8. When this is off, it acts as its media key.

Holding down the "fn" key temporarily reverses the sense of the setting.

(In addition, you can change the hotkey used for the Quick Input Panel in Yojimbo's preferences if that suits your needs better.)
